Some Advice on Decorating Your Home's Interior

You don't have to go to interior decorating school to be able to do a good job on your own home interior decorating. Just go with what you like. You can get you home decorating ideas from a picture in a magazine, from a scene in a movie, or from a friend or relative's home.

Let Lance Help

There are free interior decorating ideas everywhere. Of course, it's best to have a trained professional plan the really big jobs such as redesigning the entire home, but when it comes to the small job, you can do it yourself.

My advice (and everybody is entitled to my opinion) is to take on a small area at a time. Discover the colors and textures that please you the most and find ways of working them into the space. Look for unusual touches that can give a room character all of its own.

An Interior Decorating Tip

Let me give you a few teeny tips for a project that can make your significant other proud:
  1. Make an inexpensive and artsy end table with a dozen old hardcover books, two wooden disks, a length of broomstick dowel, and some polyurethane varnish.

  2. Drill a hole that is big enough to insert the dowel rod through each of the books. Use screws to attach the rod to the wooden disk that will be the bottom of your table.

  3. Stack the books on the rod—turn each book slightly so the stack is not even—trust me on this one.

  4. Put a dab of strong glue between each cover. Attach the top disk to the rod. Put several coats of varnish on the whole thing and voila….a table.
