Interior Decorating Schools Columnist

Brain surgery and rocket science may require your presence in the classroom, and you won't learn to swim unless you go to a place with water. However, some professions and occupations can be learned in the privacy and comfort of your own home. For example, if you want to become an interior decorator, you can attend an online interior design school. Some of the top interior design schools have Internet-based programs.

One of the worst things about being stuck in a dead-end job is the way it consumes all your time. You may hate your day job, but you can't find the time to drop that job and go back to school. Now you can learn a new profession in your own surroundings and at your own pace, without becoming unemployed in the process. Many professional and vocational schools, including interior design schools, have excellent online programs that open the doors to a new career.

Is Interior Design For You?

I think so, but I am prejudiced. After all, interior design is my life. If you have a creative spirit and you enjoy making your clients' lives more comfortable and more beautiful, it might be time for you to consider your enrollment in one of the many excellent interior design schools.

Consider your current job or career. Is it satisfying? Does it really make use of your creative skills and talents? Probably not. However, you are stuck. You have obligations and you can't just quit your job to go back to school. Think about earning your degree from an online interior design school. You'll be surprised - and pleased - to learn that some of the top interior design schools in the country offer online, off-campus programs.

There's plenty of room for new blood in this field and regardless of whether you graduate from one of the campus interior design schools or an online interior design school, I'll be happy to welcome you to the profession.
